Established in 1963, Barton grange garden centres comprising this centre, one in Preston and another in Woodford, has an enviable reputation as a leader in the field of gardening and outdoor leisure. Having developed its own wholesale plant growing division, Barton grange can offer a high quality range of trees, shrubs, seasonal bedding plants and houseplants.

To complement this range of plants, the centre can supply you with everything from tools to fertilisers to garden furniture, tropical and coldwater fish and a range of pets and accessories. After a million pound refurbishment, this award-winning centre now boasts a huge range of services, quality products and expertise.

Much of the hardy nursery stock is home grown, as are many of the flowering houseplants for the home, conservatory or office. The pets and aquatics department has also been extensively refurbished, so that it now offers a comprehensive range of pet accessories and water gardening products, including both cold-water and tropical fish.

The gift shop is also well worth a visit providing a good day out for all the family. The colliers kitchen restaurant serves a selection of light meals, snacks and home-made cakes and deserts in surroundings with a mining theme, adorned with an abundance of old photographs of the former Victoria colliery.

The centrepiece of this distinguished eatery is a manual winding wheel. Seasonal events and promotional days are held throughout the year, consisting of children's weekends, workshops and classes demonstrating the techniques behind various planting schemes, floristry and creating the perfect hanging basket. An October fireworks festival and special Christmas event, in 1997 at the centre won the GCA best Christmas display award.
