Coolings nurseries ltd began life as a small family-run concern between the wars. Still family-run, it maintains a strong tradition of quality and service. It has been at its present location since 1990. The very loyal customers attest to the superior advice and expert help offered by the educated and friendly staff.

A gardeners garden centre, it emphasises the traditional basics of gardening; most plants are produced onsite, and the range offered is truly comprehensive. No glitz or gimmicks, just a well-laid-out and vast array with growing and propagation areas, and a relaxed atmosphere of conscientious assistance and support. However, you will not find much conservatory or garden furniture here.

No matter the aspect or soil conditions you have to work with, the staff can help you choose the best plants to suit your individual needs, tastes and budget. Winner of retail nursery of the year in 1997 (and a finalist in 1998), this fine nursery sells over 1 million plants a year, and offers all manner of tress, shrubs, conifers, climbers, perennials and bedding plants and the tools and supplies to ensure that they thrive in your garden, home, office or conservatory.

The superb restaurant and coffee shop offers a good selection of snacks and light meals, and has been a winner of a healthy food award and clean food award. From the windows guests gaze out over the rose garden, herbaceous border, lawn, hedges, mixed borders and woodland garden surrounding the restaurant - and perhaps providing a few more ideas about what can be achieved in your garden.

Another special feature of nurseries is the hundred seater lecture room for talks and demonstrations, a list of which is available on request.
