Country Garden Centre
Stewarts country garden centre occupies a
picturesque greenfield site in rural Dorset. It covers a large
area of 25 acres. Great gardening ideas are to be found in the
plantaria and garden shop, with its attractive gift shop
featuring many individual craft items, crystal, pottery, silk
flowers and more. As with Stewarts other site, there is an
extensive range of outdoor furniture on display.
The light and airy Le Jardin coffee shop
restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. From
small beginnings in Forfarshire, Scotland, Way back in 1742,
the company acknowledged as the first
garden centre in the uk, has always been at the forefront
of garden centre innovation. With its attention to detail and
range of items for garden and gardener, the country garden
centre has a special ambience that brings visitors back again
and again.
The centre nursery produces around 250,000
plants annually. Also here for the visitor is the informative
nature trial, which provides an insight into the flora and
fauna of the Dorset countryside, with information board and
various points along the trail highlighting particular features
or items of special interest.
Regular informative talks are held in
purpose-built phoenix centre, where highly knowledgeable guest
speakers can guide you through a variety of garden related
topics. Guided tours of the site are also available.
Stewarts also produces its own range of
informative leaflets on various aspects of gardening. Technical
and specialist information on any gardening topic is available
from the highly skilled staff. There is also an attractive
children's play area.
