Thurrock Garden Centre

Established in 1978, the award-winning Thurrock garden centre occupies a 6 acre site which is surrounded by fields and woodland near the lakeside shopping centre. This family business specialises in hanging baskets and has won many awards from the Chelsea flower show, with a first in 1994, 1995 and 1998 for the plantaria section and also a first for foliage in 1994 and 1995.

The garden centre hosts regular demonstrations during the spring season. Along with an excellent range of outdoor and indoor plants, trees and shrubs, this traditional centre has a pleasant atmosphere where you can browse for every item in the garden. There is never any pleasure from the informed and helpful staff. There is a wide range of displayed garden furniture and outdoor features as well as an aquatic centre and for the children an interactive animal area.

The comprehensive gift shop stocks a large selection of ceramics, candles, glasswear, cards, ornaments and much more. The book shop has an extensive range of gardening, children's and cookery books and many other subjects of interest. There's is no extensive selection of silk flowers.

Another feature of this superior centre is the miniature landscapes on display, together with paving, walling and fencing, which offer an at-a-glance appreciation of the way different plants and hard landscaping can benefit the garden. In addition to all this is a clothing department with a wide range of outdoor wear and accessories.

The garden centre's well-appointed coffee shop offers sandwiches, home-made cakes and pastries in a relaxing environment.
